This salt print is in generally excellent condition. Grading this salt print on a scale of 1 to 10 â?? a 10 being a print that has rich, deep dark tones and highlights that retain all of their original detail â?? this print rates a 9. It exhibits terrific detail and a wide range of tones, from bright low lights to mid-tones and darks that range from lilac to eggplant. This print is in generally excellent condition. There is a small deposit of indeterminate nature in the upper right quadrant. The right edge has slightly faded. There is a 3/4-inch scratch at the center. On the mount, it is annotated in an unidentified hand in pencil, 'Ã comparer avec la Y [?] de Mestral, cf. l'invention du XIX S. SFP, 1916, p. 1916, p. 134, no. 111' and '[indecipherable number] L'Isle Adam.' The paper mount, possibly from an album leaf, has light soiling on both front and reverse and gentle rippling at the edges. The lot is sold in the condition it is in at the time of sale.
